Back Home!

I'm back from my trip. It was a blast. We went to the zoo, Pier 39, Chinatown, rode cable cars. Not to mention the bridges. :)

I have over two hundred photos. I am going to whittle them down and create a collage of family photos and then a collage of city photos. The city photos are for my book.

I'm wondering if I can write off the price of my plane ticket since I am setting two upcoming books in San Fran. Hmmmm...... Well that is a discussion for next year. Right now I need to organize my thoughts and get ready for this weekend. What is this weekend you might ask. This weekend I will be finishing my current project becuase I have 2...count them 2, I need to get done before Sept 31. I have about 15k to go and five days to get there. That is 3k a day which is roughly about 12 to 14 pages. Totally doable if I am diligent. Which I plan to be. So no TV, no internet, no blogging until I finish pages for the night.

Two new projects:
On one I am shooting for 15K the other is 20k. So the 15K must be finished and edited by Sept 25 and the 20K must be finished by Sept 31st. Then finished with edits by Oct. 15th.

An ambitious plan, but there is no vaction, no family trip. Just me and my writing.

Going off to Cali, Cali, Cali

I will finish packing tonight for the trip. I plan on visiting the zoo and Chinatown. And lets not forget Peir 39 and Alcatraz.

Should be a super fun trip. Only bad thing is I get back next Tues and go back to work on Weds.

Will be doing lots of research because two of my upcoming projects use Cali as a base.

* Other note: My thoughtful husband picked up several bus/transit maps of New York when he was there in July. Now I have info if I decide to set a book in the big apple.....Hmmmm.......

Making the words

Some days making the words is hard but this weekend it was kinda easy.

My husband gave me three hours at the library which produced 1641 words

And toay with my husband in SF,CA I got 1124 words and the day isn't even halfway over for me.

Talk about productive!

The Call or more specifically The Email

Okay, last weekend my husband, son, and I traveled up to WI to visit his dad and his family. We drove for 8 hours straight. I tried to stay positive but was suffering without email. I had submitted a proposal to Cobblestone press for their Vampire Oracle Card Series...actually I submitted 3 proposals. The time for authors to be notified was fast approaching. I was compusively checking my email while at home.

On Friday morning I asked my husband's step mother if I could use their computer. I logged onto Yahoo to a email from the publisher. I opened it expecting a rejection but it was a acceptance. They thought the proposal I sent in for the Hunger card would fit the Sacrifice card. Would I make those changes? Hell yes. So I emailed them back... of course I will make those changes.

The author list was announced today. I am finishing on edits to the requested manuscript and now I have a deadline. Whooo-Hoooo. I also am going to work on another short for a different publisher submission call. I could have two publishers by the end of the year.

I am celebrating. Totally celebrating!!!

Editing, Vactioning and other crap

This editing thing sucks. I mean going back over my words tightening them up then on to the next sentence. Man, whoever said writing was hard never edited.

Oh, not to mention I have come up with a new idea for three interconnected short stories all about 12-15K. I am going to tackle those after I finished with this round of editing and before I launch into my final round. I want to scream the story to the world...but won't. I will tell you it is a futuristic paranormal about shifters.

And Thursday, I will be leaving with my husband and son to visit my father-in-law and his family. We are headed up to the Dells in Wisconsin. It should be fun, but I need to finish my edits and don't have time for this. Not that my husband cares. He says if I can make time to watch some TV, I can make time for this.

Silly man.
